Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) is an integral requirement for Planning Permit Application. It is also part of the documentations to assess the proposed project on a site and its impact towards the Outstanding Universal Values (OUVs). The HIA must be prepared by a qualified individual for further review by the Penang Island City Council. The National Heritage Department has prepared a manual for the establishment of the HIA which can be used as a template.

This workshop aims to give individuals, be it consultants or project managers, exposure on the procedures towards a more comprehensive and high-quality assessment report.

OBJECTIVE
i. Increase understanding of involved individuals towards preparing the Heritage Impact Assessment in a precise format;
ii. Expose the participants to George Town World Heritage Site's Outstanding Universal Values (OUVs) and their significance
iii. Carry out a more detailed assessment on development impact
