This Introduction Workshop covers the BASICS of what you need to know when you are going to restore, repair and look after heritage buildings, especially in the Historic City of George Town, from an introduction to the city as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and overview of basic principles of conservation to explanations of the various technical stages, from municipal requirements and guidelines for conservation work. It will also cover the 6 traditional shophouse building typologies and feature case of adaptive reuse.
It will include site visit to view real examples of heritage buildings undergoing conservation of that have undergone restoration.
