George Town World Heritage Inc. (GTWHI), in partnership with Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang (MPPP), Think City Sdn Bhd (TCSB) and SERI will be joining resources to implement a pilot greening project on Lebuh Carnavon, as part of the Cleaner Greener Penang initiative by the State Government.

• The objective for the proposed pilot project is to alleviate “urban heat island” effect and improve connectivity for pedestrians and visitors alike.
• Lebuh Carnavon was chosen as it is a main arterial road linking the historic city to the Jelutong Expressway and is a busy thoroughfare. The road divider (about one kilometre long) is wide enough in places to sustain a major “greening” intervention.
