Friends of George Town outside Arts Ed in Cannon Street.
The Friends of George Town Heritage volunteers programme is administered by GTWHI as part of an initiative to increase understanding of the site to the public and to engage with members of the public to play an active role in supporting heritage activities in the city.
Since the listing of George Town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, there is a need to get larger numbers of people involved in preservation efforts, and educational and promotional activities in the city.
The Friends of George Town Heritage programme was devised to bring together a group of volunteers, provide them with the necessary training they need to become familiar with the World Heritage Site and its history and culture, and to coordinate their services in aid of a group of heritage and community organizations.
